Methods to resolve Windows 10 restarting issue

Check the Hard drive for any error

  • First, reboot your computer.
  • At the initial boot screen, click on the F8 key to open the Windows Recovery window.
  • Click on Troubleshoot and then click on Command Prompt.
  • When the Command Prompt window appears, type the command chkdsk c: /f /r and press the enter key.
  • The chkdsk utility will scan and repair any errors or bad sectors in your hard drive.
  • Once it completes, reboot your computer.

Scan files by running SFC

  • First, reboot your computer and at the initial boot screen, click on the F8 key.
  • Windows Recovery window opens up. Click on Troubleshoot and then click on Command Prompt.
  • When the Command Prompt window appears, type the command SFC /scannow and press the Enter key.
  • Windows will scan system files and the DLL library to find corrupted files. It will replace all the corrupted files with the system cache automatically.
  • Once it completes, reboot your computer.

Disable Auto-restart

  • First, reboot your computer and at the initial boot screen, click on the F8 key to open the Boot menu.
  • When the Boot menu opens, click on Safe Mode and reboot your computer.
  • After the reboot, press together Windows key R to open the Run window.
  • Enter sysdm. cpl in the field and click on OK.
  • The System Properties window opens. Click on the Advanced tab.
  • Click on Settings… next to Startup and Recovery.
  • Under System failure, uncheck Automatically restart and then click on OK.

Reset your computer

  • Factory resetting your PC might help in solving the error-causing boot loop. To reset, go to Settings and click on Update & Security.
  • On the Update & Security window, click on Recovery.
  • Now, under Reset, this PC, click on Get started.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions and choose to keep or delete some files and applications.
  • Rest your computer and see if the reboot problem is resolved or not.

Perform an Automatic/Start repair

  • You can perform this process using a Windows bootable CD/DVD.
  • First, you need to insert the CD/DVD and then reboot your computer.
  • On the initial boot screen, when prompted, press any key to boot from CD/DVD.
  • To repair the computer, click on Repair. It’s in the bottom-left of the window.
  • Now, click on Troubleshoot and then on Advanced option/Startup Repair.
  • Windows will repair the computer and once it completes, reboot your PC.
